Taking One Day at a Time

Time Marches On

Last week, I spent a couple of days with terrific friends. One of my dearest friends, who moved further north to be close to family, was able to come meet us for lunch. It was a wonderful reunion after approximately 12 years without seeing her. I hope it isn’t that long again! I would have known this friend anywhere. She hasn’t changed a bit in all of that time.

We all almost forgot to eat although the food was scrumptious. Memories were talked about, pictures of grandkids were shown, and life updates were given. Yes, we just picked up where we left off with life.

Why is it so hard to keep in touch these days with those so dear? Life happens, but I guess we just need to make it a priority to make the arrangements to meet up. I know that sometimes I think about getting a group together, but then it just honestly slips my mind plus during my pre-retirement days I was working 12 hour days almost every weekday.

These friendships are precious. I remember thinking on the way home that I needed these folks in my life regularly. Being able to talk about ANYTHING is definitely a mark of great friendship. I will have to do better about getting these kinds of things organized. It was only a two day get-away, but the endorphins were flowing! Time marches on. It does not wait!

Later…
