God is giving us a test in patience. My daughter and I made the trek to the big city this morning bright and early, leaving a little after seven. Traffic was not too bad since it was a federal holiday. Today’s mission was to see the kidney specialist.
This doc is a pleasant guy who specializes in cancer patients with kidney issues. He remembered Julie and what we had talked about before in March. The doc was concerned about her weight gain due to the fluid. Her legs were super swollen this morning. He went over several different scenarios for the future, but none of them will happen until she is discharged from her treatments for the cancer. He gave her some meds to boost the effect of the water pill to help her get rid of some of the swelling before she has the PET scan next Monday. Come January, we may see a hospital stay with intravenous meds to get rid of the swelling. If that does not work, then we may be looking at dialysis. My daughter just stayed her happy self at the doctor’s office despite everything, leaving it for mom and the good Lord to worry about. It is what it is, and we will indeed be taking one day at a time.
Crossing my fingers for next week’s PET scan that the cancer is all gone.
Later…
