Technology is great when you are familiar with it. I’m teaching an online course this semester. I’d rather be in person, but this is ok. Yesterday, I flipped on the computer a couple of hours earlier than my class to finish the preparation. Low and behold, the online meeting app had been changed. I knew I had received an email that said mid-September was the changeover date, so I felt like I was safe with the app that I had prepared for. I crazily had to convert things to go onto this new app that I had not received training for. Two minutes before I was to go online with the class, I finally figured out how to upload my documents from the LMS. Whew! Maybe I still have some smarts left in me. It was a good cardio workout at the least!
Getting older is not for the weak, both physically and mentally. I have more aches and pains than I did before retirement. I forget things if I don’t write them down on a sticky note. At least I remember I wrote whatever I had forgotten ON a sticky note! Some days I do not have the motivation to do things I once did. I try to stay active mentally and physically as much as I can and I feel guilty if I have a day when I have to listen to trains all day, as my daughter sits on the couch and watches on You Tube. It is really annoying, but it is also a part of what makes my daughter tick. It is calming to her.
So where is my calm? I don’t know. Perhaps writing on my blog is the answer, or being back in the bedroom sewing whatever I want, and learning to quilt. Maybe it is watching all my grands play their sports. I need to get out and about to maintain my mental health, and when I am shopping and walking, I feel I’ve achieved the physical movement I need for the day. I know it needs to be more! I guess I will need to do the Silver Sneakers workout online since summer is coming to an end! I really do not want to rely on the computer app seconds before class to get my heart going again!
Later…
