Language is necessary for children to learn. Many of our children are not meeting the bar when it comes to acquiring vocabulary. If children do not have language, they are unable to express their feelings, which can lead to frustration and meltdowns. Learning to read becomes difficult. Children need attention. Talking to your child and conducting conversations are imperative to the growth of your child’s language abilities. Visiting various places and having experiences as they learn from 0-5 is a must. With school only a month away, I feel that this needs to be repeated again and again to parents of small children. Those who have not been exposed to a sufficient amount of language are very noticeable when school starts. Teachers are blamed for children not being able to read; however, by the time children reach school age, their brains have developed 90% of their capacity. Those learning paths are created as much as they will be during the 0-5 age. This responsibility falls on the parents. TALK to your children and provide them with your attention and experiences. Limit screen time.
