I “heard” from someone who watches the news obsessively that some folks were going to boycott the Fourth of July, with no celebrations, parades, picnics, or whatnot. I suppose those organizing the boycott must live elsewhere, because the Fourth of July still stands proudly here in our area.
This has not been the Fourth of July that I had planned, however, I am still appreciative of all those who have served and had a part in letting our country be a place of freedom. Do those protesting realize that they could not protest without consequences if we did not have a free country? It seems like they are biting the hand that feeds them. Imagine what those in the service think when they hear some of the so-called news. They are risking their lives for our freedom.
My point on this Fourth of July is to heed the voices of the American people. Take the things you hear on the network news outlets with a grain of salt. Go about your life and live every day to its fullest. Be thankful to have the freedoms that you have in this country. Put your hand on your heart or remove your cap when appropriate. Be proud. Be thankful. Be you.
